Carbohydrates are macromolecules that have the ratio of 1 carbon to 2 hydrogen to 1 oxygen. There are several types of carbohydrates.
Types of carbohydrates
Monosaccharide= Simplest carbohydrate. Used as a building block for other carbohydrates. Most common type is glucose.
Disaccharide= Carbohydrate made from 2 covalently bonded monosaccharides.
Polysaccharide= Macromolecule carbohydrate made from a few hundred monosaccharides.
